Thursday 8th July 7:17pm

River search after object spotted in the River Severn near Bewdley.
​

This evening, as crew were launching our rescue boat SARA 26 for training, we were alerted to an incident on the river in Blackstone, Bewdley. The crew made best speed to the scene and carried out a search of the river alongside colleagues from Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service. With nothing found, the crews stood down and returned to their stations.

Monday 31st May 9:56pm

West Mercia Police requested a missing person search in Bromsgrove.
​

Just before 10pm, we were contacted by West Mercia Police for the second call out in a single day to assist with a missing person search in the Bromsgrove area. Crews were deployed to the area along with colleagues from SARA Tewkesbury.

Thankfully the missing lady was located safe and well at around 11:30pm. Thanks again go to all our crew (and their families who support them) who turned out for this job at the end of a busy weekend for the organisation.

Monday 31st May 9:56pm

West Mercia Police requested a missing person search in Bromsgrove.
​

Just before 10pm, we were contacted by West Mercia Police for the second call out in a single day to assist with a missing person search in the Bromsgrove area. Crews were deployed to the area along with colleagues from SARA Tewkesbury.

Thankfully the missing lady was located safe and well at around 11:30pm. Thanks again go to all our crew (and their families who support them) who turned out for this job at the end of a busy weekend for the organisation.

Monday 31st May 2:15am

Missing person search in Newent, Gloucestershire.
​

Our crew heading down to the Forest of Dean to assisit SARA Tewksbury searching for a misper, whilst out searching the misper was located by police some distance away and crews stood down at 8:30am.

Saturday 22nd May  9:20pm

Missing person search in Ombersley, Worcester.
​

Our crew were out search through the night until 2:20am for a missing lady near Worcester along side our colleagues from West Midlands Search & Rescue. The crews were called back out the later on the Sunday to continue searching but were stodd down when the missing person was located on route.

Friday 21st May  8:09am

Tasked by West Midland Police for a land search in Wollescote.
​

This morning, the crew of Wyre Forest Station were tasked by West Midlands Police to assist with an ongoing missing person investigation in the Stourbridge area. During our search, a body was located by the crew, and after further investigation by the police, we were able to carry out a dignified recovery in challenging terrain.
​
The thoughts of all the SARA Wyre Forest crew are with the gentleman’s family and friends.

Wednesday 19th May  8:59am

Tasked by Hereford & Worcester Fire & Rescue to conduct a river search.
​

The crew from Wyre Forest Station were called by Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service to assist in an ongoing search in Hereford. The crew along with colleagues from SARA Beachley and SARA Newport Lifeboat Station deployed our boat SARA 26 ‘Stuart Frost’ and did an extensive search of a stretch of the River Wye below Hereford. With nothing found at this time, the crew were stood down and returned to station to be ready to respond to another call out.

Sunday 2nd May  9:30am

Tasked to Sandwell to assist West Midlands Police with a land search.
​

Our land search crew deployed to the RV to assist the police with a missing person search, however the crew were stood down at 11am due to further information eliminating the need for the land search to continue.

Sunday 25th April  11:52am

Tasked to Gloucestershire to assist Tewksbury station with a land search.
​

The SARA Wyre Forest crew were called out shortly before midday today to assist our sister stations in Gloucestershire with the resumption of a missing person search from the night before. Thankfully the missing person was found safe and well and our crew returned to station around 5pm to decontaminate kit and prepare the vehicles for the next deployment.

Thursday 22nd April  4:36pm

Tasked to investigate an object of interest to the Police in Holt Fleet.
​

A small group of crew explored the area and determined that the object was not what the police were searching for, therefore crew stood down and returned to station. 

Thursday 1st April  11:19pm

High risk missing person search in Stourport.
​

Following our usual training evening the crew had not long got home before a call came in just before 11:30pm. The land search crew of Wyre Forest Station were tasked by Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service to assist West Mercia Police with a missing person search in the Stourport area. Also in attendance were our colleagues from West Mercia Search & Rescue and the drone team from Wyre Forest Fire Station. Crews searched through the night, standing down around 5am. Around midday the following day, the crew were again asked to deploy to Stourport to assist West Mercia Police with the ongoing search. We also asked our sister station Severn Area Rescue Association - Tewkesbury to support with additional crew.

As the teams were searching around the canals and waterways in Stourport, the missing person was located safe and well by a member of public and the police slightly further along the canal network.

Tuesday 30th March  10:01am

Animal rescue in Bewdley on behalf of Hereford & Worcester Fire & Rescue.
​

The SARA Wyre Forest crew were tasked by Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue control to assist with the recovery of an injured goose Bewdley. The crew launched our rescue boat SARA 26 and in a combined effort with a shore team, were able to recover the goose to safety. The goose was transported to a rescue centre to be checked over and the crew recovered the boat, returned to station and decontaminated the kit ready for the next tasking.

Sunday 28th March  8:37am

Requested to assist WMSAR for a missing person search in Ironbridge.
​

Shortly after 8:30am this morning, the SARA WF crew were asked to provide mutual assistance to West Mercia Search & Rescue with an ongoing missing person search in the Coalport area; also in attendance were Staffordshire Search and Rescue. We would like to thank Blists Hill Victorian Town Ironbridge and
Telford Hotel & Golf Resort for their assistance during today’s search and the The Half Moon pub for allowing us to use the carpark as a base.

Monday 22nd March  3:18pm

Asked to assist RSPCA with an animal rescue in Redditch.
​

A slightly different call out for the Wyre Forest Station crew this afternoon. Shortly after 3pm, we were contacted by Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service Control to assist the RSPCA (England & Wales) with a bird rescue in Arrow Valley Park.
​
Due to access restrictions and to minimise stress to the bird, the crew deployed one of our rescue sleds and were able to cut the fishing line that was tangling the Egret in a tree about 8ft above the water. Returning to the shore with the Egret, it was taken by the RSPCA to get checked over. We have heard that there appears to be no injury to the bird and is due to be released soon.

Saturday 13th March  2:43pm

Tasked to undertake a river search for a missing person in Worcester.
​

Boat crew from Wyre Forest Station were tasked by West Midlands Police a second time this week to assist with a missing person investigation. The crew launched their boat in Worcester and carried out a search of the River Severn for any signs of the misper but on this occasion nothing was found at this time therefore the crew were stood down at 7:45pm.

Thursday 11th March  12:12pm

Tasked to undertake a river search for a missing person in Worcester.
​

Boat crew from Severn Area Rescue Association - Wyre Forest Station were tasked by West Midlands Police
to assist with a missing person investigation. The crew launched their boat in Worcester and carried out a search of the River Severn. Sadly, during the search, a body was found which was then recovered in a dignified manner alongside colleagues from West Mercia Police. The thoughts of the crew are with the friends and family.

Saturday 20th February  9:28am

West Mercia Police requested land crew to conduct a search for a missing person in Redditch.
​


Wyre Forest land search crew were tasked with searching the open areas in and around Arrow Valley Country Park for the vulnerable misper. Requiring additional crew, we asked our colleagues from Warwickshire Search and Rescue and our sister station Severn Area Rescue Association - Tewkesbury to assist. Crews were stood down as the light was fading and returned to station to decontaminate the equipment.

Saturday 30th January  11:17am

Support requested by SARA Tewksbury to a vehicle in water near Malvern.
​

Wyre Forest Swiftwater Rescue crew were on route to the report of a vehicle in water with an elderly couple inside. Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue Service were able to rescue the couple and our crew were stood down on before arrival on the scene. 

Saturday 16th January  8:29pm

Support requested by West Mids Search & Rescue for a high risk missing person near Trimpley.
​

Wyre Forest land search crew were on route to assist in the night time search, however, the person was located and our crew were stood down on before arrival on the scene.
