The request came from Gloucestershire Constabulary to assist a injured male walker with leg injury in Redbrook, Wye Valley. Wyre Forest, Tewksbury and Beachley Land teams deployed. Once the walker had been located, the team exricated over steep ground supported by the SARA rope team.
Working with the Gloucestershire fire and rescue service and SWAST paramedics, in the dark, he was carried down to the road on one of our Mountain Rescue stretchers, carefully back-roping it down the slope so that it was always secure. There he was transferred directly to a waiting ambulance for medical care. |
SARA Wyre Forest was called out to support SARA Tewkesbury on behalf of Gloucestershire Constabulary. The vulnerable missing person was successfully located by a SARA Land team, and was provided professional medical aid by specialist SARA Casualty Care Crew with subsequent hand over to South West Ambulance Service.
Crews were stood down shortly after 11:30am and returned to a school fayre event in Pedmore, Stourbridge. |
Call out for a missing person search in Dursley, Gloucestershire.
SARA Wyre Forest was called out to support our colleagues from our sister stations, SARA Tewkesbury and Beachley, were joined by volunteers from Gloucestershire and Midlands Cave Rescue Group and Gloucestershire Police. The person was found outside of our designated areas by the police who then called us in to assess the casualty and aid in their extraction. We would like to thank Gloucestershire fire and rescue service and the British Red Cross for their welfare provision, and all the volunteers who turned out to assist in the search.
Crews were stood down shortly after 11:00pm to return to base to ready the equipment for the next call-out. |
At 11:03am SARA Wyre Forest were called out to assist Gloucestershire Constabulary in a search for a missing elderly male near Slimbridge. Land and Swift Water Rescue teams responded in support of our our sister teams down stream. SARA - Tewkesbury, SARA - Beachley and SARA - Sharpness Lifeboat Station.
As teams started their search areas the Police Helicopter located the missing person. SARA’s MREW Casualty Carers were sent to assess and attend to the elderly man. The casualty was evacuated by stretcher before being transferred to a SARA Land Rover, before handover to an Ambulance crew from SWAST. Through the combined efforts of all involved this elderly gentleman was reunited with his family. Well done to all involved in this multiagency response. Crews were stood down at 3:07pm, returning equipment to station, ready for the next callout. |
Wyre Forest crew were tasked directly by West Mercia Police to assist with search for a high risk vulnerable misper in the Worcester area. Following a briefing with West Mercia Police Wyre Forest Land and Water crew, supported by crew from our sister station, Severn Area Rescue Association - Tewkesbury, deployed to the RV Point to commence the search planning and team deployment. During this time, the missing person was seen by camera operators and the police quickly located them.Crews were stood down at 23:30 before returning back to their respective stations to prepare the vehicles and kit for the next call-out.

Severn Area Rescue Association - Wyre Forest Station were requested to assist West Mercia Police with a missing person search. Wyre Forest were placed on standby but were stood down by police before leaving station.
